How about 6th then?

Black Magic... Can Penrith keep it up?

JohnnoTitans. Don’t see the Gold Coast doing any better. I like the structure of the squad with decent players in nearly, if not all, positions. However, I have a question mark about their defence and away form, two things they probably need to work on.

GordonPenrith. I like the squad this year, not only the signings but the players who have bulked up and taken their game to a new level. I don’t think they will have trouble getting points on the board, I’m just not so sure about defence. Captain Petero is always inspiring though and I’m also backing another big year for Luke Lewis, so I think they’ll do fairly well.

Well, final position for today then, lads?

Johnno – I’m going with the Eels. Great talent in the squad, but now they’re expectations will be significantly higher. Jarryd Hayne and young Mortimer have potential but have to step up now. Don’t think they will enjoy the pressure of being a favourite, but will be more consistent throughout the season. However, I doubt they will enjoy a run like they did toward the end of last season.

Gordon – I like Manly for 5th. Yes they lost on Monday; they looked unstoppable in the first sixty minutes or so. Even with the injury to Brett Stewart I think they can still be competitive. The only reason I can’t see them finishing further up is the missing presence of a solid half back.

Well that’s it for number two of three instalments of Johnno and Gordon’s predictions for the 2010 NRL season. However, stay glued to the site over the next couple of days as we bring you their final 4 predictions.
