• Sun claim Faurlin’s signing breached third-party ownership rules
  • QPR ask for FA investigation into claim
  • Rumoured 15-point docking would drop QPR from 1st to 5th.

Drama... Another Argentine creates third-party problems.

That’s what the British tabloid, the Sun, are claiming after claims that Alejandro Faurlin’s signing for the club in 2009 was heavily influenced by third party ownership details.

Queens Park Rangers face Watford tonight in the second tier English Championship and in normal circumstances; a win or draw would confirm their promotion to the English Premier League next season.

However, the doubt that now surrounds the situation involving Faurlin is a major cause for concern.

A similar state of affairs occurred in 2007 when West Ham’s Carlos Tevez saved the Hammers from relegation with a string of match-winning performances.

But the Argentine’s third party payments were judged to be improper and the club was fined 5.5 million pounds and were ordered to pay 20 million pounds compensation to Sheffield United as they got relegated finishing just below the Hammers.

Ironically enough it’s another Argentine who has caused the entire furore.

It will be interesting to gauge the celebrations of the QPR players if they do get a point or more tonight, given the circumstances.

The club has asked for the FA to investigate the Sun’s claims however and believe that they have done nothing wrong.

It is believed that if they were to be docked points, 15 is the rumour, the club would still be in the position to qualify for the third and final promotion spota via the four-team qualifying playoff series.
